How and when did you get started climbing?
Rat Peak right off of Nuns Corner on the Santa Fe Ski Area Road a little past 10,000 Waves. Must have been about 4years old at the time. Dad setting up topropes and traditional anchors with these old school slung hex nuts, equipment I think he’d aquired in the 60’s. I was fascinated playing with all the gear and watching out for all the broken glass at the crag and so stoked after sending my line!
What is your favorite style/type of climbing?
Big alpine moderates in amazing settings. Exposure and unforgettable views!
What makes climbing/guiding so special to you?
The opportunity to be outside in nature enjoying life, people and the environment. Getting to know limits and surpassing them. Slowing it all down to one move at a time.
What are your most difficult/proudest/favorite sends?
Southern Man, Washington Column, Yosemite V 5.8 C2 in a day
- Question of Balance, Questa Dome, New Mexico…..
- Warpy Moople, Muralla Grande, Sandias, NM….
- Bear Creek Spire, Sierra Nevada, California….
- Portrero Chico, Mexico….
all forever etched in my mind. Epic long days with friends returning to camp via headlamp to feast on some home cooking
What are some goals for your future?
Still want to climb El Capitan and go to the Bugaboos, ski in Alaska and Japan, pass more AMGA exams and introduce more people to unique outdoor experiences, build my own traditional house (I’d like to get the vigas and build some of the adobes myself), grow food, have a family.
What do you feel comfortable guiding?
Single Pitch Terrain, hiking, camping Etc
